No. Our Youth Awards program is only open to rising high school seniors who will be graduating high school in the Spring of 2024.

We highly encourage students to join our Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) Network. This is where we keep our members informed about opportunities on entry level jobs, scholarships & grant opportunities; students can also keep in touch with other young professionals with similar interests. Yes. If you are under the age of 21 and are receiving your GED, you are eligible for the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards.

If you or one of your parents can directly trace your ancestry to Latin America, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, the Spanish speaking Caribbean or the Philippines, then you qualify for this award.

AP and IB classes give greater point weight to their grades which can result in GPAs over a 4.0. For the purpose of the Youth Awards, we look at un-weighted averages. This levels the playing field for students whose schools do not offer many AP or IB classes.

Please calculate and convert your GPA to reflect the correct GPA on the 4.0 scale. You can use an online calculator here.

It is required that you reside in the US or its territories to apply. In the application, you will be asked for your US mailing address.

Home schooling does not disqualify you from applying. As long as you are following an accredited home-schooling program or would be eligible to apply to an institution of higher learning for upcoming Fall semester next year then you still qualify.

The Haz la U program is a part of our Youth Awards. By applying to the Youth Awards, a student is also automatically applied for the Haz La U program.
